AFCI Locations Show 2014

Date posted: 26.03.2014

Film London and the British Film Commission (BFC) join the UK screen agencies at the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) Locations Show, taking place in Los Angeles 27-29 March.

With Creative England, Creative Scotland, Northern Ireland Screen, the Wales Screen Commission and the BFC, Film London will be promoting the UK’s world-class locations, studio space, VFX houses, production companies, talent and crew as well as its generous tax reliefs to international film and television producers.

"I am delighted to have a presence at AFCI Locations Show again this year, promoting the UK's superb locations, state-of-the facilities, highly skilled workforce and outstanding talent," says Adrian Wootton, Chief Executive of the British Film Commission and Film London.

AFCI Locations Show

The AFCI Locations Show is an industry mainstay event, bringing together hundreds of global production representatives while showcasing incentives, production locations and business and support services.

This year's AFCI Locations Show takes place at the Hyatt Regency in Century City. The UK stand is at booths 703 and 705, where visitors can take a seat in the iconic Iron Throne, from the set of HBO's hugely successful Game of Thrones, which is shot in Northern Ireland.

Promoting UK Tax Reliefs

With an audience of hundreds at the showcase, Film London, with the BFC and the other UK agencies, are set to widely promote the UK — made even more accessible via the recent enhancements made to the UK film tax relief as well as the generous high-end television tax relief.

"It is an exciting time for production in the UK, with the latest enhancements to the film tax relief in place from 1 April alongside the popular high-end television tax relief, which is just a year old," emphasises Wootton.

"With these strong financial incentives, there is no better time for us to collectively emphasise the enormous opportunity the UK provides productions of all shapes and sizes."

The BFC will be hosting a panel outlining the latest enhancements to the UK's Film Tax Relief with industry speakers including Chris deFaria, President of Animation, Digital Production and Visual Effects at Warner Bros. Pictures and Joe Chianese, Executive Vice President at Entertainment Partners. The event takes place on Friday 28 March at 3pm at the Trade Show and is open to all.
