Marylebone Station in iLL Manors

iLL Manors, the feature debut from Ben Drew (aka musician Plan B), is a unique crime thriller set on the streets of London. Produced through Film London Microwave, the film follows six disparate lives, struggling to survive the situations that surround them and will be released in cinemas across the UK on 6 June.
Set in Drew's home town of Forest Gate, the film shot extensively on location in East London and at 3 Mills Studios. However, when the production needed to capture a key scene in a train station, they moved to central London to utilise Marylebone Station, which was flexible and able to meet all their needs.
Location Manager, Rosalind Laugharne, confirms the team "at Chiltern Railways were exceptionally accommodating". Laugharne goes on to explain the production enjoyed such flexibility "as we chartered our own train on a Sunday and had exclusive use of one of the platforms, which made filming in one of London's busiest stations completely manageable."Marylebone Station is unique in that it is an independent station with the train company and station all managed by the same people, allowing productions access to both at the same time through a single contact.
The location's versatility was maximised by iLL Manors to great effect, as Emma Gascoigne, Filming Contact at Marylebone Station recalls, "they also used an area of the station concourse very imaginatively as a shopping centre, showing what a real gem this station is". Moreover, due to engineering works, they could readily change the train platforms and allow the production to utilise two.
Opened in 1889, it was the last mainline terminus to be built in London. Marylebone station is modest in scale, with historical character and cinematic appeal. It comprises of a main concourse and six platforms. Being a commuter hub, it has great potential for productions looking for a station location for their shoot. Run by Chiltern Railways, Marylebone Station affords greater access with the option to hire a train.
Marylebone station has also been used for Gavin and Stacey, the TrainLine advert, Reggie Perrin, the Morgana Show and many more.
