Swakeley's House in Mr Stink

Starring Sheridian Smith (Gavin & Stacey), Jonny Vegas (Benidorm) and Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey), BBC One's forthcoming 60 minute adaptation of David Walliams' popular children's novel was shot in part at Swakeleys House in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
A 17th Century Jacobean mansion with its vast space and varied interiors, Swakesleys House proved to be the ideal location for a large part of the shoot, capturing the feel of the story and the Christmas mood in suburbia.
Smith and Vegas play mum and dad to lonely 12 year old, Chloe, who befriends Mr Stink, a local tramp played by Bonneville. Chloe invites Mr Stink to hide out in her family's garden shed and the adventures ensue.
Location Manager Jodi Moore explains that "Swakeleys is a fantastic Jacobean Manor with modern offices and crucially some great 10 Downing Street interiors, as well as a good Unit Base." The surrounding streets also proved to be ideal for filming street scenes in the snow, while the Borough's Highways and Streetlighting departments also worked with the production to change the street lights.
Moore worked closely with Nadya Gilbey from the Hillingdon Film Office. Picking out a highlight Gilbey said "covering the street in fake snow and Christmas decorations for Mr Stink put local residents in a festive mood...residents told us that they found the whole experience to be exciting and even a little bit magical."
James Crawley from AD Locations, the locations agency representing Swakeleys House for this production, enjoyed working with the crew to facilitate the shoot and commented that "the owner of the property was thrilled with the outcome".
Swakeley's House is one of the finest examples of a 17th Century Jacobean mansion in the country. The three-storey mansion retains many original features and is set within 18 acres of beautiful, landscaped grounds. Among the original features are some huge fireplaces surmounted by ornate mantelpieces with marble busts and stained glass coats of arms in the windows. Interconnected is the more modern Vyners House, providing a further two floors of partitioned and open plan modern offices. Ample onsite parking and access to the main facilities are also available. Productions that have shot here include Armando Iannucci's In the Loop.
Mr Stink was also shot on 3D and will be broadcast on the HD channel. It is the first time the BBC has filmed a fictional programme in 3D.
