Apatow's British Adventure

Opening today in cinemas nation-wide, Get Him to the Greek is Judd Apatow's latest comedy. Shot between London and LA, the film stars Russell Brand (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) as rock legend alongside Jonah Hill (Superbad, Funny People) in the story of a young record company executive with three days to drag an uncooperative rock legend to Hollywood for a comeback concert at LA's legendary Greek Theatre.

'This is the first international Apatow production', director Nicholas Stoller enthuses. As such, the production travelled to the UK to shoot various of the London-set scenes in the capital. Locations featured in the film include The 02, where scenes of Brand performing as rock star Aldous Snow were filmed in front of an audience of 20,000 fans. Brand was joined on stage by Jack Black (School of Rock) and Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall). Other London locations included St James' Park, Trafalgar Square, Waterloo Place and the New Cavendish Club.

Brand, born in Grays in Essex in 1975, shot to international stardom with his anarchic sense of humor and dandy patter. A strange mish-mash of every well loved Englishman from Keith Richards to Kenneth Williams to Morrissey, his literary references range from Marx to Dickens to Oscar Wilde and he is fast becoming the country's most popular export.

As well as starring in the latest release by King of bromance and gross-out comedy Apatow, Brand's movie career has flourished and he has recently completed a turn as Trinculo alongside Helen Mirren in Julie Taymor's The Tempest. He is also tipped to take on the lead role in the remake of Arthur, the 1981 hit starring another well-known Essex boy, Dudley Moore.

"Russell is an incredibly funny, remarkable, charming man, and we wanted to present him as he is as much as is possible. Aldous is actually a toned-down version of Russell" says Apatow.

"I've been plunged into water for seven hours" says Brand. "I've had to hang off a building on a wire, had to mimic having broken bones and been covered in vomit. I've been in sexually compromising positions, and I've had to take all manner of 'narcotics.' I've performed live rock 'n' roll. I've recorded an album..." Brand has gone to enormous lengths to entertain you. Get him to the Greek is out from today.
