Star-Studded Capital
Love from London Exhibition

Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and Frank Sinatra are just a few of the names featured in 'Love from London: A City of Stars'. The free photographic exhibition at Getty Images Gallery, presented in partnership with Film London, shows stars from Hollywood's golden age and legendary actors spending time in the capital.

A Revolutionary's Tale
Outfest 2010

Film-maker Miikka Leskinen has just got back from the US after presenting his short, Small-Time Revolutionary, in competition at top LGBT festival Outfest in Los Angeles. Leskinen was supported by Film London through the Film-Maker's Festival Fund - find out about his experience of festival life across the pond.

London's Best 'Recutters'
The winning London Recut films - an archive-based competition ran with support from Film London  - premiered on Monday at an event as part of Rushes Soho Shorts. Showcasing London's creative flair, Nicola Jaberi's London! A Guide for the Anxious, Rahim Moledina's Air, Sarah Charles-Thomas' Everybody's London and Stevie Gee's Playing Out came out top.

Funding, Training & Industry Events

Filmdirecting4women is running a two-day Final Cut Express course on August 7-8 (£295 + VAT) and a three-day Final Cut Pro course on September 4, 5 and 6 (£495 + VAT). Both courses take place in central London. To book, email info@filmdirecting4women.com.

'Film Means Business' is a new series of quarterly panel events aimed at making future UK producers familiar with the real world of producing. Maggie Ellis, Head of Production and Talent Development at Film London, will sit on the first panel event, 'Face the Funders', on 9 September. Book your place now.

Raindance is presenting two courses - Basic Cinematography on 3 and 4 August and Directing Actors on 7 and 8 August The two weekend classes are dedicated respectively to creating the perfect visuals to support a story and getting the most of actors from audition to shoot.

Festivals & Screenings

Kino
London's monthly open-mic film night presents a series of groundbreaking shorts tomorrow night at Truman Brewery.

As part of Earl's Court Festival (2 - 31 July), there will be an open air screening of the box office hit, Mamma Mia on 30 July at 8pm. Get your lycra on and your dancing shoes out and take a chance on a magical summer's evening watching an open air showing.
 
This summer BFI Southbank offers the public a rare opportunity to view nitrate prints in the only public cinema in the UK allowed to screen them (2-31 August). Films being shown include Anchors Aweigh and Les Maudits.

Roxy Bar & Screen is screening Scouting Book for Boys, the acclaimed debut feature by PULSE alumni Tom Harper on 3 August. Entry is £3 for non members.

The Museum of London Docklands collaborated with young people from Tower Hamlets to create an interesting and powerful short film about changing social views. Watch Tolerance in Diversity on 4 August.

Submissions

Festivals etc. currently seeking submissions include: Marbella International Film Festival - deadline 30 July; and The Royal Television Society Student Television Awards 2010 - deadline 6 August.

In the News

The cast of the film remake of The A-Team attended the premiere in Leicester Square last night. London-shot films Never Let Me Go and Made in Dagenham will premiere at this year's Toronto Film Festival.
