Apply for Assistant Location Manager Training
Date posted: 04.01.2010
Do you have a passion for architecture and a keen eye for detail? Then perhaps you’re considering working as a location manager? If so, then Film London may be able to help with your career objectives. Apply now for our Assistant Location Manager Training (ALMT) scheme – it could be just the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
Now in its third year, this course was developed to meet the needs of assistant location managers and other production staff wishing to pursue a career as a location manager. If you’re based in the UK and currently working as a freelancer in the media industries then you may be eligible to apply for ALMT - a six month part-time vocational training programme developed by Film London with support from Skillset, the Sector Skills Council for the Creative Media.
Many industry experts have contributed to the development of the course, bringing together a wealth of experience and knowledge from the sector. Besides photographers and borough film officers, students will have access to seasoned professionals in the field of location management. Last year, mentors included Jamie Lengyel (Creation, Children of Men), Emma Pill (Alice in Wonderland, Mamma Mia) and Jane Soans (Me and Orson Welles, Brideshead Revisited).
The course has proved a great success in its first two years, with participants using the knowledge and contacts they gained during the programme to access new jobs within the TV and film industries. In fact, almost all participants from the 2009 ALMT scheme have gone on to work on big feature films, including Nanny McPhee and The Big Bang, Blitz, Gulliver’s Travels, Hereafter, Robin Hood, or respected TV shows, such as Law and Order UK.
ALMT takes place in London over six weekends - from March to July 2010. The deadline for applications has been extended to 5pm, Monday 1 February 2010.
Find out more about the course content and access application details on the dedicated Assistant Location Manager Training page.
