Opens to the Public

The photographic exhibition Love from London: A City of Stars opens to the public tomorrow. The free exhibition, presented in partnership with Film London, will be on show at Getty Images Gallery until 9 October.

Funding, Training & Industry Events

Booking is now open for 'Working the Tax Credit', a one-day industry training course by The Production Guild covering the complex nature of film funding. The course will take place on 27 September at Pinewood Studios and early booking is advised.

Westminster Media Forum is hosting a seminar about the possibilities and impact of digital technology. Britain's Digital Future, on 2 September, will bring together speakers top industry players including Alcatel-Lucent, BBC and Google to discuss how government, regulators, industry and consumers can work together to secure the UK's digital future.

Festivals & Screenings

To mark its second year running, the Brazilian Film Festival (1-5 September) is giving away a pair of tickets to a Film London newsletter reader to see Blue Eyes (Olhos Azuis) on 4 September at the Apollo Piccadilly Circus. To be in with a chance to win, send the answer to the following question quoting Brazilian Film Competition in the subject line to london@brazilianfilmfestival.com: Which well-know American actor plays MARSHAL in Jose Joffily's Blue Eyes? The deadline to submit your answer is 28 August.

Visionary Czech film-maker Frantisek Vlacil is the subject of a retrospective at the BFI throughout September. Vlacil, whose work has never had a theatrical release in the UK until now, was one of the key exponents of the Czech New Wave. The retrospective will screen his first solo feature The White Dove alongside his medieval classic Marketa Lazarova, often considered 'the best Czech film ever made'.

Curzon Mayfair's Midnight Movies is hosting a late night screening of Fritz Lang's Metropolis on 3 September. Turn up from 9.30pm for music, a free shot and a special dance performance introducing the screening. There are DVDs to be won by the best dressed - dress code '1920s bourgeoisie' or 'factory chic'.

Join Brain Wash at Curzon Soho this Bank Holiday Monday for an evening of short films and a few surprises from 7pm.

In the News

The trailer of Mike Leigh's latest feature, Another Year, is out now. A Hard Day's Night director Richard Lester has donated scripts and correspondence from Hollywood stars to the BFI.

Other News

Film London is looking for a Production Assistant to assist the Head of Production and Talent Development with the successful delivery of the micro-budget feature film fund and to provide support to the Production Department. Deadline for applications is 1 September.

The UK Screen Association is looking for a Membership & Communications Officer (maternity cover) to start in October 2010. The deadline to apply is 8 September.
