Re-Invent London's History with London Recut, a new online initiative and competition from Mosaic Films, in partnership with Film London, the BFI and London's Screen Archives. London Recut gives free access to extraordinary archive films of London and easy to use editing tool allowing people to 'recut' the footage with their own to tell new stories about the capital. The competition closes Sunday 6 June.
FLAMIN, Film London Artists' Moving Image Network, has announced the first five projects greenlit by the FLAMIN Productions fund. Works by London-based artist film-makers Phil Coy, Charlotte Ginsborg, Anja Kirschner & David Panos, Elizabeth Price and Ben Rivers, will benefit from a total investment of over £170,000 to create new moving image works. The new round of applications is open until 1 July.
From the 28 April to 3 May Sci-Fi-London presents the 9th London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film with the theme Life in 2050. The theme will influence the festival's programme of films, its Labs, and will be represented by an art exhibition curated by graphic design studio Transmission and Warp Records. Titles so far confirmed include Drones, co-directed by Buffy alumni Amber Benson and Adam Busch; Despositarios, a sci-fi police thriller set in Mexico city; and the UK premiere of Nothing by Vincenzo Natali.
The London Palestine Film Festival 2010 (30 April – 14 May) is the largest festival of its kind in Europe with a selection of vital documentary, fiction, art, and animation work by Palestinians, or about Palestine. The event opens with Elia Suleiman's latest feature The Time That Remains and other festival highlights include the first Palestinian animation and UK premieres of Eyal Sivan's groundbreaking documentary Jaffa: The Orange's Clockwork and Kamal Aljafari's astonishing Port of Memory.
Kicks n Flicks presents the London International Football Film Festival at the Shortwave Cinema from 3 to 9 May. The Festival seeks to bring the power of football to the silver screen, Kicks n Flicks invites fans to submerge themselves further in the sport they know and love.
The Terracotta Far East Film Festival is back in London to present its second roundup of choice films from the Far East. From 6 to 9 May, you are invited to indulge in the fantastic lineup of 15 hand-picked films from Hong Kong, China, Japan, South Korea, and Thailand. The festival opens with Little Big Soldier and closes with Bodyguards and Assassins.
The School of Advanced Study at the University of London are running a Summer School on Memory, Empire and Technology from 29 June to 3 July; The sessions will be complemented by afternoon activities centred round London understood as technological city: the Greenwich History Project, visits to the Stanley Kubrick Archives and the Warburg Library, and an architectural tour on a historic Routemaster bus. The summer school welcomes researchers, students, artists, archivists, conservation and heritage professionals and any others interested in memory, technology and the industrial legacy of London. Plenary lecture by Patrick Keiller.
The Engine Room Pitch is a unique 2-day project development and pitching workshop on 15 and 16 June for documentary film-makers and factual cross-platform creatives seeking UK and international commissions, co-production and market intelligence. It is also an exceptional networking opportunity.
Seize the Future is a Master Workshop on the Funding, Marketing and Distribution of Independent Films. The Sheffield Doc/Fest and The Channel 4 BRITDOC Foundation are now inviting applications for a special 2-day workshop on the funding, marketing and distribution of independent films on 2 and 3 July.
Film London currently has vacancies for the Chair of Film London and Board Members, and several tenders open for application. Film London and London's Screen Archives (LSA) are inviting tenders from freelancers with moving image archive skills for four major Revitalising the Regions (RtR) projects: a toolkit for non-moving image specialist collection holders; an inventory of c40 London repositories' film and video holdings; preservation audit visits for 10 collections; and enriched cataloguing for 400+ hours of seldom seen London material.

Now PayPal want to know how you bump with PayPal and are running a short film competition so you can show them. Paypal want to see you get creative, use your imagination and have some fun so grab your camera or phone and start filming. Entries close 31 May.
