Creating the world’s first purpose-built film and television ‘live-work’ community has been proposed by Pinewood Shepperton plc.
The £200 million Project Pinewood is a unique and ambitious undertaking. The new development will offer a “collage” of locations modelled on popular film and television backdrops.
These will include a Roman amphitheatre, a complete castle, a Venetian canal, an Italian lakeside and street scenes from London, New York, Paris and Los Angeles. Many of these completed features which will be visible from the M25.
Project Pinewood aims to rival other international film-making powerhouses by providing permanent settings that will give a significant boost to the speed, efficiency and creative options available to the media industries.
It will also be a residential development, creating a sustainable community that will contribute to the shortage of housing in the South East, as well as proviinge vocational training facilities for film and TV students.
In order to forge ahead approval must be sought from the relevant planning authorities for a significant extension – doubling the size of the existing Pinewood site.
