Move on Up

Date posted: 12.03.2007

Film London, in association with The Script Factory, will be supporting the BECTU project ‘Move on Up’. This initiative will take place in central London, providing Pitch and Presentation workshops for selected participants.

Move on Up is an event bringing executives from TV and film broadcasting together with black and minority ethnic workers in the industry with the aim of facilitating better access to employment and commissioning opportunities.

Film London will support the event by funding Pitch & Presentation workshops for Move on Up applicants. These workshops will be delivered by The Script Factory and will take place at their central London offices.

Pitch & Presentation is a 3 hour interactive workshop that provides participants with an overview of the whole pitching process, from what not to wear, to how to deliver an ‘elevator pitch’.

The workshop is designed for producers and writers in the film and television business, but the principles are applicable to any situation. The focus of the workshop is mainly on how to convey the ‘story’, rather than on the details of the finance and/or talent package. However, for producers who wish to include this element in their presentation there will be feedback and some simple guidelines to follow.

Deadline for application to Move on Up is 9 April and workshops are taking place between 12 and 28 April 2007. To apply to the Pitch and Presentation workshops you must be an applicant to Move on Up - see the application form below.
