Audience Development Funding Allocated

Awardees of the latest round of Film London’s Audience Development Fund have been announced.

16 London-based festivals and projects will receive almost £140,000 in funds. The awardees include:

  • Phoenix Cinema Trust Ltd, Finchley for Outdoor Community Festival Screenings
    Award: £2,000

    Every year a park local to the Phoenix hosts two community festivals - the East Finchley Festival and the Muswell Hill Festival. The Phoenix will run a film tent at both of these festivals showing a wide range of films for all to enjoy.
  • NCH Hackney Young Carers Project for Young Carers’ Film Project
    Award: £2,218

    Hackney Young Carers Project (HYCP) is a branch of the national charity NCH. HYCP will run a pilot project involving 15 young carers aged 11-14 in the summer holidays. The group will explore story-telling and create a short film based on their circumstances.
  • The 17th Latin American Film Festival
    Award: £5,000
    The Latin American Film Festival is an annual ten day festival which includes cultural and educational events at cinemas in central London promoting access and appreciation of Latin American film.
  • Africa At The Pictures
    Award: £14,000 over two years

    Africa at the Pictures will produce a range of screenings and programmes including: a weekend of African Cinema at the Barbican in London and other London venues; a monthly season of African cinema from December 2007; an education programme using film, video, archive clips, documentary and drama entitled African Cinema and Independence.
  • Whitechapel Art Gallery for the Whitechapel Children’s Film Library
    Award: £3,000

    This project will aid the research of the Whitechapel Children’s Film Library with a weekend of special screenings and consultation with local parents and professionals. The content for the library will be decided at workshops and a weekend festival of films.
