Billy Elliot - The Musical

Date posted: 17.01.2007

One of Britain's most successful films, Billy Elliot, has received a stage makeover and can currently be seen at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London.

Billy Elliot launched the film career of Jamie Bell and grossed approximately $110m at the international box office. It is now six years since the film was released, but the magic lives on.

Billy Elliot – The Musical reunites the team behind the award-winning film. Director Stephen Daldry, writer Lee Hall, choreographer Peter Darling and producer Jon Finn all collaborated on the stage reincarnation.

The story follows the life of Billy – a lad born in a northern township with traditional values. Men are supposed to box and work in the mines. Unfortunately, Billy is no ordinary boy – instead he is attracted to the grace and wonder of ballet. The film charts his difficult journey fighting for what he believes in.

The stage version of this story presents music from the legendary Sir Elton John.
