How would you like to determine which aspiring film-maker wins an award with First Light Movies? Simply watch a selection of films over the Christmas period and vote for your favourite!

First Light Movies, the UK’s funding initiative for young film-makers, is offering you the chance to decide who should win one of their annual film awards. Help the international judging panel of actors, directors, producers and writers, including Nira Park (Hot Fuzz), Michael Winterbottom (The Road to Guantanamo) and Alan Rickman (Harry Potter).

Nominated films in the ‘Best Film by 12s and Under’ category are being screened online. They will take audiences on three moralistic, eye opening journeys as the budding young film-makers have chosen to tackle hard hitting topics focusing on the environment and war.

First Light Movies need to know which film, out of the three, is the people’s favourite, and why. To get involved just log on to and navigate to the online cinema’s Children’s Films section where the three films are called First Light Movies Film 1 - 3. Then email your name and the name of your favourite film to and you’ll automatically go into a prize draw.

The deadline for votes is Monday 10 January 2008.

Supported by the UK Film Council, the award ceremony takes place at the Odeon Leicester Square in March, recognising the very best of their funded films during the year.
