Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer is one of the shining stars of Christmas. Taking a leading role in film and on the small screen, Rudolph is in high demand this season. It's not just Rudolph, but all of Santa's reindeer that get booked up in the holiday season with cameos and guest appearances. If you haven't got a direct line to the North Pole, and you need to cast a reindeer in your production, then all is not lost. Atonement* leads the London Critics Circle nominations while The Bourne Ultimatum* is up for Film of the Year. Other films in the running include Eastern Promises*, Sunshine*, Control*, Sweeney Todd*, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix*, The Golden Compass*, Brick Lane* and And When Did You Last See Your Father*.
Moxie Makers have launched The Big Pitch. Pitch your idea to win the UK's biggest film production prize worth £250,000. Moxie Makers is a micro studio, created with the express purpose of commercially showcasing the exciting new film-making talent burgeoning in the UK. Supported by Skillset, The Big Pitch will provide comprehensive training and development for six producer / writer / director teams as they compete to win the most dynamic feature film pitching competition and the largest film production prize in the UK. The closing date for applications is 22 February 2008.
The next exhibitiors forum will take place on Thursday 24 January at the Tricycle Theatre from 9:00 - 1:00pm. As is traditional, the forum combines the sharing of news and best practice with the chance to exchange ideas on working methods and future plans to develop the capital's cinema-going climate. The East End Film Festival running 17th – 24th April is now open for submissions and looking for films from all sectors of the international filmmaking community, that reflect and enhance this unique quarter of London. Early submissions are encouraged with all entries being submitted to a prize draw. Early Bird entry closes December 13th. The deadline for all submissions is 18th January 2007.
