My Movie Mogul

Date posted: 20.08.2007

Vito Rocco, a Film London supported director, has been selected by the My Movie MashUp community.

My Movie MashUp is a unique initiative, backed by British production banner Vertigo Films and Film4. It is the world’s first user generated feature film, showcased and managed through MySpace - the infamous social networking site.

The community has been integral in helping to find the first director for Faintheart. Vito Rocco was selected above countless other entrants and will lead the £1 million project, which is scheduled to shoot in early October.

Film London has supported Vito with two previous projects: Full Frontal (produced through the East London Film Fund in 2000); and Goodbye Cruel World (funded through the 2002 London Production Fund).

Now the search is on for the cast of Faintheart, which is billed as a romantic comedy about the lives of a group of people who re-enact Viking battles as a hobby. Casting for the lead roles in the film will take place online.

Video auditions must be uploaded to the site by 10 September. The best entries will be shortlisted and called back for an in-person casting session later in the month.

The advisory panel for the project includes producers Alison Owen and Andrew Macdonald, and director Stephen Woolley.

Faintheart is due for release in October 2008.
