It is undeniable that the capital looks great on screen and film-makers now have the opportunity to submit their London-based shorts to an open-submission competition.

FILMAKA and have launched I LOVE LONDON, inviting quality film-makers of all backgrounds to make short films which celebrate London. The competition aims to encourage diverse cinematic responses on the subject of London.

Films are required to be up to five minutes maximum in length. They can be presented in any moving image format - from fiction to documentary, animation to experimental shorts. Submissions are open to film-makers across the world in any language (as long as they have English subtitles).

The submitted entries will be judged by a high profile panel, including writer/director Martha Fiennes (Chromophobia, Onegin), feature film producer David Barron (Harry Potter), director/actor Gary Love (Sugarhouse) and LOVEFiLM’s Editor, Helen Cowley.

Ten winning film-makers will each be awarded cash prizes of $500, and their films exclusively distributed as a free download via the UK’s largest online DVD rental service,

The winners of the competition, which runs until 7 September, will be announced on 26 September 2007.

LOVEFiLM and Filmaka gained inspiration from Paris Je T'aime, a collection of eighteen short films by acclaimed directors such as Gurinder Chadha, Walter Salles, Alfonso Cuarón and Gus Van Sant.
