National Portrait Gallery in Closer

Date posted: 01.01.2005

Released nationwide by Sony Pictures Releasing International on 14 January 2005 Closer is the latest project of Academy Award© winning director Mike Nichols, with a screenplay by Patrick Marber based on his acclaimed stage production.

Closer is a bitingly funny and honest look at modern relationships. It is the story of four strangers: Anna (Julia Roberts), Dan (Jude Law), Alice (Natalie Portman), and Larry (Clive Owen), their chance meetings, instant attractions and casual betrayals.

The edgy script is beautifully complimented by the backdrop of contemporary London. Closer was filmed in many key London locations, such as the restaurant of the National Portrait Gallery, which boasts a magnificent view across the Thames.

The National Portrait Gallery is home to the world's greatest collection of portraiture and also the renowned Portrait Restaurant and Bar.  Serving a modern British menu, and with a stunning view of London's skyline, The Portrait Restaurant is one of the capital's most sought after socialising hotspots.
