FLAMIN

In 2005, Film London in partnership with Arts Council England, established FLAMIN - Film London Artists' Moving Image Network. This network was created in support and recognition of the wealth of artist film-making talent in London and beyond.

Moving image work is a diverse and expanding area and sits at the forefront of contemporary art, reflected in its regular inclusion in biennales, major prizes, cinema screenings and large scale gallery exhibitions.

The capital has produced numerous high profile moving image artists, such as Jane and Louise Wilson, Kutlug Ataman and Isaac Julien, who use film and video as an integral part of their practice and have gone on to achieve major international profile and success. Continuing in this tradition is a new generation of artists coming through colleges and film schools who are developing innovative projects which continue to demonstrate that London is a leading global centre for artists and experimental moving image work.

FLAMIN supports London-based artists working in moving image in all its forms and helps artists engage with, and benefit, from the wide range of services, resources and opportunities that the capital has to offer.

In 2009 FLAMIN Productions was launched - a funding scheme run by the Film London Artists' Moving Image Network, offering production awards of between £20,000 to £50,000, as well as a substantial development programme. The scheme is for work that is ambitious in premise and duration (20 minutes+) with an emphasis on projects that have strong potential to reach audiences via galleries, broadcast, cinema or digital platforms.

Prior to the introduction of FLAMIN Productions, the network initiated other successful schemes and residencies, such as The Jarman Award and Bristol Mean Time. Visit the FLAMIN Showcase to find out more about projects produced by all FLAMIN-supported film-makers and watch excerpts of their work.

The FLAMIN website is an extensive resource provides information tailored to meet the needs of artists working with the moving image. Discover more about the projects we have supported and access user-friendly documents covering the entire film-making process - from production to exhibition.

The FLAMIN website also lists information on current calls for submissions and opportunities for artists on a national and international basis. Sign up for the Film London Artists' Moving Image Network email bulletin for all the latest news.
