Talent and Development schemes
Film London has discovered and developed London’s filmmakers since 2003. Through our funding and mentorship schemes (BFI NETWORK short film fund + early development fund; Production Finance Market New Talent strand + Microwave), our filmmakers have made films that have been selected for Cannes, Sundance, TIFF, the London Film Festival, the Berlinale, SXSW and many other festivals. They’ve collected awards at Sundance, Berlin, Dinard, Bafta, and BIFA, among others.
We have a range of schemes and initiatives running throughout the year to support filmmaker development.
Our latest Training and Development scheme is Film London Labs.
Launched in autumn 2018, Film London Labs is a year-round programme of events, talks, panels and workshops, all designed to address the reality: filmmaking is hard.
Our newly launched curated events programme will provide our audience of emerging talent with an opportunity to gain insight into the career and creative process of established film artists. As ever, we’ll have heavy focus on attracting filmmakers from diverse, under-represented backgrounds and skew the majority of our outreach towards these groups.
Film London has a strong history of and commitment to representing diverse voices in our city and we’re eager to provide the emerging talent in this city with an open and inclusive platform to learn from experts and connect with one another.
With these events our aim is to cultivate a space for our emerging talent to learn, network with other like-minded creators, and foster meaningful connections that could lead to future collaboration.
