Studios

Some of the world's finest and most historic film studios are based in and around the capital. From Ealing and 3 Mills to Pinewood, London can offer an unparalleled base for your production.

3 Mills Studios
3 Mills Studios, supported by the London Development Agency, is London's largest film and television studio complex. Set on an historical and secure 20-acre island site, extensive on-site facilities include 16 stages (totalling 120,000 sq. ft.), 6 rehearsal rooms, 200+ production offices, 64-seat screening room and a media village.

This unique niche studio has attracted some of the industry's most successful independent film-makers, including Danny Boyle, Ken Loach and Mike Leigh. Feature credits include multiple award-winning animations Fantastic Mr Fox and Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, as well as Eastern Promises, Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later.

Ealing Studios
Ealing Studios, located between Heathrow and central London, is the oldest continuously working film studio in the world. The stages and offices are steeped in history having survived the onset of the talkies, two world wars and the more recent technological advances in film and TV. The studios house three sound stages and two silent stages and can cater to the office needs of any production with a wide variety of flexible space.

Famous for it's Ealing comedies including The Ladykillers, The Lavender Hill Mob and Passport to Pimlico, more recently Ealing has provided facilities for Woody Allen and productions such as Dorian Gray and Sam Taylor-Wood's Nowhere Boy.

Elstree Studios
Elstree Studios, based in Hertfordshire, has been synonymous with film-making for the best part of the last Century and is still playing an important role in film and TV production. It is an independent studio providing six sound stages and one silent stage comprising over 60,000 sq ft of space.

Elstree was first established in 1926 and since then many great directors have worked at the studios. Some of the most famous films in the world have been produced at Elstree, including Star Wars, Indiana Jones and The Shining. Elstree Studios is home to three top British TV shows - ITV's Dancing on Ice and Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, plus Channel 4's Big Brother.

Pinewood Studios Group

Pinewood Studios Group, consisting of Pinewood Studios, Shepperton Studios and Teddington Studios, is Europe's leading film studios. With 34 sound stages, ten TV studios, audio post-production facilities, a selection of backlots, gardens and woodland available for outdoor shooting, the group also boasts one of Europe's largest exterior water tanks and a dedicated underwater stage.

The world-renowned facilities are used for major national and international film production and recent credits include Ridley Scott's Robin Hood, Clash of the Titans, Quantam of Solace and BAFTA award-winning Moon.

Twickenham Film Studios
Since 1913 Twickenham Film Studios has been a mainstay of the UK film industry and is one of the UK's oldest surviving studios. Today the studios, located close to Richmond town centre, continues to uphold this position - providing shooting stages and state-of-the art post-production sound theatres to major film and TV clients.

Classics such Help, Blade Runner, and Shirley Valentine were filmed at Twickenham and more recent productions include Kick-Ass, Angels & Demons and Sleuth. In the field of TV, five series of period drama Poirot head up a wide-ranging array of drama, comedy and children's programmes.

Wimbledon Film & Television Studios
Wimbledon Film & Television studios is London's newest film & television studio complex and is fast becoming the capital's most advanced production hub.

The studio was, until 2010, home to The Bill but now, under new management, the studios have undergone a major refurbishment and have already welcomed a host of productions to SW19.
