Filming and the Games

From 27 July until 9 September 2012, the world's eyes will be on London. The 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will be an exceptional occasion taking place in one of the world's most famous and popular cities.

London is preparing to host the biggest show on earth and deliver an unforgettable Games. However, the logistical demands of the event will mean that some locations and sites will be temporarily unavailable for filming and certain transport routes will have restricted use.

Film London is working closely with the Mayor of London, the delivery bodies for the Games, local authorities and commercial partners to ensure the capital can continue to welcome and accommodate filming throughout the whole of 2012.

Film London aims to ensure productions in the capital during the build up to and during the Games experience minimal or no disruption by:

•       Collaborating closely with local authorities, the film industry, Olympic delivery bodies and partners across London and the South East

•       Monitoring sporting and cultural activities taking place in 2011 and 2012 that could impact filming

•       Sourcing alternative locations, hotels and studio spaces

•       Running information sessions for the national and international film community

•       Offering assistance to film crews from the London Media Centre during the Games

•       Sourcing a pool of experienced local Location Managers to be on call during the Olympic period

•       Creating a centralised London-wide online application system for filming in the capital
