On 21 March 2010 the inaugural Mayor of London's London Film Day saw the capital playing host to a new mainstream family event launched by Film London in association with the BFI London Film Festival.

The centrepiece of the day was 15 sold out simultaneous world public premieres of Working Title's Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang, held at venues all around the capital courtesy of Universal Pictures. All tickets were offered at a discounted rate of £5 for adults and £1 for children and cast and crew introduced the premieres at multiple venues, giving the public the chance to see their favourite stars from the film.

In addition to the premieres London Film Day also offered young film fans, families and visitors to the capital the opportunity to take part in free workshops at each of the 15 participating venues. Ranging from modelling and animation techniques to storytelling and storyboarding, the workshops celebrated the magic of cinema and Nanny McPhee.

Prizes were also available for those taking part, with competitions and ticket give-aways in the run up to the event as well as open days at key film locations and exclusive behind the scenes tours of the major film studios.
