Video from Market Place Live 2011
Specially designed to show film-makers how to take a feature film project from an idea to a successful release, this is no ordinary training event.
Rather than having them dish out advice, MarketPlace Live puts experts to the test and challenges them to take a hypothetical project on this journey - enabling participants to see how they would deal with the twists and turns of the contemporary industry landscape.
This year Film London is presenting the event at BAFTA, where an experienced panel will take to the stage, and take up this challenge.
And this unique opportunity for film-makers to discover just how the Film Value Chain really works also provides a great chance to network - with drinks in the BAFTA bar.
- When: 6.30-8.00pm, Tuesday 25 March
- Where: Princess Anne Theatre, BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly, London W1J 9LN
Great night ... wish film-making was always such fun! – Film-maker and 2011 Market Place Live panellist, Gurinder Chadha
This year we're joined by top experts from across the industry - from Oscar-winning financiers to one of the UK's most influential distributors - all offering their expert take on the issues faced by producers in today's industry.

How it works
Market Place Live goes beyond the regular panel format, using an imagined project with made-up cast, director, producer, financing partners and distributors - allowing panellists to speak freely about their reactions and thought processes.
As the story of the film unfolds, the panel will have no warning of the scenarios they are presented with, providing participants with unique access to the way they work and how they make decisions.Market Place Live is presented in partnership with Film Export UK and BAFTA, and supported by Creative Skillset's Film Skills Fund, which is funded directly by industry through the Skills Investment Fund (SIF), as well as by the National Lottery via the BFI.
