Film London actively supports talent development through vocational training, skills and educational provision throughout London. Our support focuses on our production programmes and sector specific activity where Film London can provide unique expert input from staff and industry partners.

Market Place, Market Place Seminars & Market Place Live!
Market Place is Film London and Film Export UK's training support for the Sales Sector, supported by Creative Skillset. Market Place began in 2008 with paid work placements. In 2009 Market Place Seminars provided professional development for assistant-level staff currently working in the sales sector. In 2011, Market Place Live showcased the Sales Sector through a unique and innovative panel event held in London. Interviews with industry experts and the complete programme from Market Place Live! Are available online now.

Microwave
Microwave, Film London's ground-breaking micro-budget scheme to commission debut feature film-makers in the capital, is supported by BBC Films, the BFI, Creative Skillset and the Mayor of London. This unique training-through-production scheme offers fledgling talent a step up to long-form production. As part of the Microwave scheme, Film London provides a menu of mentoring and bespoke training to support talent development. In addition, Film London co-ordinates regional roadshows each year, which include screenings of the Microwave films and specialist panels focusing on aspects of micro-budget film-making, such as Working with Actors, Music on a Micro-budget and Distribution. Microwave Online
Microwave Online offers you an opportunity to improve your knowledge of micro-budget film-making in a virtual learning environment. In addition to profiling the Microwave slate of films and keeping you up-to-date with micro-budget news, you will be able to access a host of information about specialist subject areas, starting with 'Selling your Film', and 'Legal Matters' Watch exclusive interviews with industry experts who offer in-depth advice and read about insider top tips and useful links. The latest additions to the site include an in-depth study of the origins of micro-budget production (and tips on how to approach making a micro-budget feature) alongside everything you need to know when it comes to using Sound and Music in your micro-budget production. Microwave Online is supported by Creative Skillset.

Assistant Location Managers Training
The Assistant Location Managers training (2006-2010) supported by Creative Skillset was a groundbreaking six-month vocational training programme developed by Film London to meet the needs of assistant location managers and other production staff. This programme is now closed. Other training offers that may be available for anyone interested in finding out more about working in locations can be found by either visiting the Guild of Location Managers or the National Film and Television School short course unit.

Film and Media Technician New Entrant Scheme
In 2009/10, ten successful trainees undertook the first placement of its kind in the film and TV sector - a paid placement and a classroom-based training- programme related to preserving and archiving moving image footage. Film London partnered with FOCAL International to provide this programme, which, in its pilot year was supported by Creative Skillset. Film London is currently working with FOCAL and Creative Skillset to ensure there will be online master-classes and interviews made available later in 2012. Further training offers can be accessed through the FOCAL International website. Independent Training Providers
The Independent Training Provider (ITP) sector has been an influential presence in London providing high quality industry-standard training for individuals for many years and providing an alternative route for developing talent. Consisting of many member organisations and training providers, the sector continues to present 100s of training courses, both focusing on specific technical training issues and business training.
