PULSE
The PULSE scheme, which is currently closed, supports new talent in the London region and offers film-makers an opportunity to make digital shorts for a variety of exhibition and distribution platforms.
Since its inception in 2002 the scheme has been a launch pad for 159 writers, directors and producers. The talented film-makers that have been nurtured through PULSE have received wide industry recognition – tipped as the ‘Stars of Tomorrow’ by Screen International and receiving a raft of BAFTA and BIFA award nominations.
Run in partnership with the UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund, PULSE supports a new generation of film-makers to tell stories using digital technology creatively. Up to six short films are commissioned annually, with a budget range of £4,000 to £8,000.
An extension of the PULSE programme, PULSE PLUS, was a more ambitious award for directors who had previously made a PULSE digital short or similar. This initiative has since been replaced by a two year programme called Digital Nation, the only deadline for which was in November 2008.

A growing number of Film London funded films are being streamed through the BBC Film Network player. Look out for the 'Watch it!' links underneath individual films, or view all streamed content through the exclusive Film London player.
BBC Film Network promotes new British film-making by screening short films and profiling the people who make them. They accept direct submissions from film-makers. If you would like to see your short showcased on BBC Film Network go to www.bbc.co.uk/filmnetwork and create a new profile.
